One of the Best Dog Friendly Flower Farm’s in Tasmania

I love a dog friendly flower farm, especially one that encourages people to stroll around and enjoy the colourful blooms with their dog. Table Cape Tulip Farm, located on Table Cape overlooking the township of Wynyard on the North West Coast, is one such dog friendly place. Not only is ‘The Patch’ flower farm dog friendly but when it’s tulip season (late September – October) the farm welcomes you and your dog to stroll through the fields of Tulips.

The Patch

The Patch is in its second season. Two protected paddocks of mounded rows of the most beautiful colourful Dahlias of different sizes overlook a vista of trees, dam and out towards the Cape. I couldn’t help but smile walking through these rainbows of colour and was amazed as I stopped to admire some of the sizes of the heads of the Dahlia flowers. Honestly, I don’t know how the stems hold the individual dinner plate size blooms up. Then there are the teeny little ones, profusions of sweet blooms decorating the greenery. I had no idea there were so many varieties.

Personally I love the colour contrast of the blooms with my dogs and end up taking way too many photos.

Each year the display of dahlia flowers is weather dependent. The farm aims to Open mid February through to early April. This year (2026) the blooms were late sharing their stunning glory, and only now (early March) are the flowers starting to come into their own. I expect they will be late finishing so The Patch could possibly be open longer than usual to take advantage of the full display, as Autumn for us was a little late arriving.

Evening Entertainment

Friday nights are music nights. Pack a picnic blanket, bring a picnic or order one from the farm, bring comfy chairs, wrap up warm as the evenings can be a little cool and park yourself on the grass to listen to the evenings entertainment as the sun goes down behind the beautiful dahlia flowers. You can BYO or purchase a drink from the pop-up bar. If bringing your dog make sure they won’t mind the music, noise and crowds and react to it.
